How to Render Lard
Updated: Jul 26, 2018

Lard can actually be good for you... WHAT? Yes, I said it. Lard made out of the fat of pasture-raised pigs is one of the best all-natural cooking staples you must have in your kitchen. Why? Because it's a completely natural product, making it better than any oil or spray you cooking with each day. The best part is – it's so easy to make. Let me show you how...
HOW TO RENDER LARD:

Step 1: Slice 4-5 lbs. of FROZEN pork fat into small cubes.

STEP 2: Place cubes in your crockpot and add 1/4 cup of water.

STEP 3:
Let the fat cook on LOW for several hours, stirring frequently. You'll want to see the cracklins rise to the top and all of the liquid fat will be underneath.
STEP 4:
Drain using a cheese cloth and store in mason jars.
If you enjoy cracklins, make sure to save them and season with a dash of sea salt!

STEP 5: ENJOY! You can use lard for anything from baking a delicious pie crust to frying an egg.
